Critical Thinking!
Sometimes we find
ourselves letting others dictate what we should think and believe as well as
do. We will travel down the road of critical thinking, opening our minds
to the universe to connect to a higher power that will enable us to use our
most precious gift "common sense"!
We are all
endowed with common sense, some on a more profound level and some it is hidden
away in our psych. There are many people in the world in all walks of
life that depend on their common sense, whereas others seem to think that
having book smarts/sense is more prevalent and common sense is just something
you use when all else fails, not realizing it, "common sense"
normally is activated in times of need, when we really need answers to
perplexing problems or issues and everyday life challenges, victories and
accomplishments anyway. This segment of Stay At Home Moms will take you
on a journey in Critical Thinking on many topics one being how common sense
works in application to our daily lives, the problems we might face, the
people, place and things that can activate our natural abilities to solve
problems.
In scripture it
mentions we are given talents and how we use them is up for debate when there
are some (in reality) that don't use their talents at all. We women
experience many faucets of life that requires us to manage not only our family
and home but a job, our own well being, among some. It sometimes seems
like we juggle a lot in one day and look up and another day has come. How
do we decipher and keep our momentum and sanity in this ever-changing world today?
Thinking back
over many years of struggles to get from one point, such as starting a family
with a mate and raising children to another point, keeping a job, maybe
furthering an education to social participation and on on...... we begin to
realize that we used our common sense a whole lot of
times.
Remember when the
baby had a fever, well we took a cool cloth and wipe our precious child all
over to suppress the heat coming from their little bodies. Some of us
learned and use another technique from our mothers and grandmothers by using
rubbing alcohol to do the magic. We even try sometimes putting the baby in a
cool tub of water. Whatever the case, we didn't exert all energy running
to the doctor with the slightest hint of sickness in our children. We use
our common sense to attempt to help our babies feel better and even found
ourselves diagnosing what could possibly be wrong with our babies. We
weren't always right but we weren't always wrong either. If we felt and
understood from a common-sense perspective, we needed emergency assistance with
our child than we would call a doctor or went to the hospital.
What was
important to us in the older days was we must feed our families with the proper
foods to keep them healthy. Common sense will tell you that your mate,
and especially your children can not survive on junk food or sweets all the
time and maintain good health.
Stay At Home
Moms, believe that in order to be prosperous in life taking care of home comes
first. If you are a single woman, taking care of yourself comes
first. Don't misunderstand a woman that has a family "must"
take care of herself first to be able to function properly for her family, but
the mindset and well being of her family will activate in her a need to stay
healthy and strong for her love ones.
Coming from a
large family, I found that we didn't have time to have self-pity for ourselves,
we all had a job to do to make the family productive in every aspect of
living. We used our "common sense" a lot. The education
system was there to help us also academically use the knowledge that was given
to incite in us the natural ability to use common sense. We had to think
rationally and use caution in our choices of daily living. This combination of
the embodiment of self-preservation and education brought about a society that
had the ability to maintain a nation.
The problem today
in a critical thinking aspect is that most people are not thinking for
themselves. This society has become the denominator below the line (a
shared reality) in our lives that brings about the question "are we really
thinking for ourselves, are we believing everything we are told without
questioning it"! Do we do what everyone do without feeling no urge
to investigate if it is the right thing to do. Now of course, we must
follow the laws of the land, but we don't have to always be on our cell phones,
or the internet on some social media site, or out partying all the time.
There are other avenues
in our lives that can give us gratification if we just stop and think,
critically so, who are we following, who's beliefs are we carrying. What
ideas are we harvesting from others that we can ourselves create. What
can we do to make our lives and those in our circle more comfortable and productive?
How can we stay abreast in the system but be independent of this system in our
thinking? Could it be by utilizing the external forces of our society to
enhance our choices with common sense the forefront of our choosing? Do
we get more educated or surround ourselves with educated people while excluding
the need to arouse common sense? These are topics that Stay At Home Moms
will address because we feel this is a road to changing ourselves for the good
or better with hope of being successful 100% of the time in "any"
endeavor that we undertake.
